Privacy policy
Designed around data minimization: your folder stays in your browser.
What the application processes
When you select a folder, the application processes filenames, relative paths, sizes, modification timestamps, directory structure, and hashes locally in browser memory. Duplicate verification reads only files that share a size candidate. Deep Privacy Scan reads supported small text files only after you explicitly start it.
What we collect
Folder Autopsy has no backend, account system, database, analytics, advertising pixels, telemetry, or API calls. We do not receive your folder names, file names, paths, contents, hashes, findings, or report metadata. The static site cannot see information processed by the application in your browser.
Storage and forgetting
Reports and selected File objects remain in memory for the current page session. Choosing Close, Forget this folder, clicking the header logo while a report is open, or refreshing the page removes the application’s references. The application does not store report data in localStorage or IndexedDB.
Exports and contact
JSON and Markdown exports are created locally and downloaded through your browser. You control those files after download. The contact form is a demonstration interface and does not transmit or save submissions because there is no backend. Do not enter confidential information into it.
Third parties
The application bundles its own code and styling and does not intentionally load remote scripts, fonts, analytics, or other services. If a hosting provider retains ordinary web-server request logs, those requests concern static asset delivery and do not contain the folder data processed in your browser.
