Folder Autopsy is an inspection and organization utility. Its findings are heuristic observations based on filenames, paths, metadata, hashes, and, only when you explicitly request a Deep Privacy Scan, selected local text content. A finding does not prove that a file is malicious, sensitive, obsolete, safe to remove, or appropriate to distribute.
You remain in control
The application is read-only and does not delete, rename, move, quarantine, or repair files. You are responsible for reviewing original material, maintaining backups, confirming contractual or legal duties, and deciding what to share. Do not rely on a score as a substitute for security, legal, compliance, records-management, or privacy advice.
No warranty
The site is provided as-is and may miss risks or report harmless material. Browser limits, unusual formats, inaccurate timestamps, inaccessible files, and evolving naming conventions can affect results. Verify important decisions independently and consult a qualified professional when consequences are significant.
Security incidents
If you find a real credential, private key, or token, removing the file from a package may not be enough. Consider rotating or revoking it with the issuing service and reviewing access logs. Folder Autopsy does not contact providers or remediate incidents for you.
